The really loooooooong journey

We woke up at 6:00 today to get  breakfast and caught a tuk tuk to the border. Then a bus to Thailand and finally a van to Chiangmai. That took us to about 2:00. Then we ate the famous Chiangmai noodles.
We also ate some Chiangmai sausage.
And some soup.
And then we went to a wat. Is this person real or not? What do you think?
After that we went to our hotel were we had a swim before going  out to dinner.
We had noodles for dinner and we saw bookmarks and paintings and we bought some dream catchers! Then we went to bed.

Thung Dong Farm

I had a delicious breakfast today of sausages toast and egg. Then watched TV while our mother was buying stuff. When she came back we got our bags and found a man called Ae who took us to Thung Dong Farm which was about an hour's drive.
When we got there we got to feed the animals before lunch.
After lunch we went fishing and we got to ride on a motorbike with Ae! It was exciting and we were looking for a dog called Sam but we found out that he had found his way back.
Then we found some baby chicks there were three so we each got one. Sadly these Chinese children wanted them so we had to give them to them. Then we played with the dogs and the cat(called Mary, Sam, Hiero and Lucy and Oscar the cat) before feeding the animals their dinner. Then we had our delicious dinner before going to bed.

Staying at the Daauw Home

For breakfast we had bread with omelette, cucumber and tomato inside.
The Daauw Home is a place where the mountain people can go see their family in hospital but instead of paying at the Daauw Home they work there. We had to
spend  most of the day trying to get a private van to Chiangmai and eventually we got one. So the next day we could go to Chiangmai. For dinner we had some pizza at the Daauw Home.

The Daauw home

We were destined to arrive at Huay Xai today.
The hotel we stayed at gave us breakfast. After breakfast we visited a village that did not have electricity.
They had no windows or doctors as well. The men were great hunters.
They didn't even have water and had to go to the river to get it. We got on the boat to travel until lunch.
The lunch was delicious and very tasty. Finally we arrived at Huay Xai and had some delicious chicken there. It had been a long day.

A van picked us up to go to a boat that would take us to Huay Xai and it would take 2 days.
We ate chocolate croissants for breakfast.
We stopped of at the Pak Ou caves. Which were full of Buddhas. The Buddhas had been there for hundreds of years.
Then we got back on the boat to keep continuing the journey. For lunch we had rice with some delicious fish.
Eventually we arrived at Pakbeng which was were we spent the night.

The placemat

Today we went to make a placemat.
It took me 2 and a half hours to make this. We started by spinning the silk. Then we did the weaving. My mum made a naga one. My brother and sister did dying. That took us till lunch time. For dinner I had pizza. It was our last day in Luang Prabang.

There was a great view from the place. We were near the river. For most of the afternoon we played in the garden there.

The waterfalls

Today instead of omelette for breakfast I had a pancake. I smothered the pancake in chocolate sauce.
We went on a tuk tuk to the waterfalls and the black bears. It was long worrying journey, because Matthew was stung by what we think was a hornet not once, not twice but three times once on the hand and twice on the neck!

Matthew and Yasmin had a ice cream but I didn't because I wasn't hungry. The waterfalls were a different blue because of the ground. It was cold but I had a lot of fun.

We also went to the butterfly garden and saw, well butterflies.

We also saw some chrysalises as well. We took a tuk tuk on the way back and Matthew was feeling better.

In the afternoon we played with this girl called Mali. She was four years old and was fun to play with. Her parents owned the guesthouse we were at. For dinner we had sticky rice with fish, soup and a dish with nuts in. It was a scrumptious meal!

Up the mountain

Today we walked up a mountain. It had quite a lot of steps. The mountain was called mount pousi.
This is a view from the top of the mountain. At the top of the mountain was a tiny wat.
I found a canon besides some stairs.

We went down the stairs a little further and we found some Buddhas.

On the way back from lunch I found a dead Scorpion on the road. The ants were collecting it.

We also found some pink eggs!

The wat was very big, this is only a small part of it.

Inside the biggest building was a big gong.

Inside was a giant Buddha!

Yasmin has been naughty these last few days! She's been up to her tricks again...

For dinner we had spicy meatballs,
Mushroom soup and some
of the hill tribes dishes. On the way back we were given 50,000 kip each to spend on the night market.

Our First Day In Laos

Today for breakfast I had spicy tomato omelette with fruit and yogurt and homemade passion fruit jam on crossont.
This is a picture of the river in Laos, it is a really long river and takes a few days to get across.

In the morning we went to Big Brother Mouse which is a place where Laos students come there to learn English.
I talked and worked with the children there. It was fun.
My favourite thing I did today was the dodgems because it was fun crashing into each other!
Two people had to sit in each car so me and Matthew sat in one and Yasmin and my mum sat in the other.
We crashed into just about everyone but mostly my sister.

For dinner we went to a restaurant called Tamerind and ate a lot of food. This is a drink that is a bit sour.

This is a lime drink.

The first food that came was a dish were you had to make a ball of rice and then dip it in one of the dips. The left ones are spicy and the right ones are not. The lower down right one is really smokey. The seweed is what you add to the ball of rice.

The dish on the right has buffalo meat, Laos sausage, vegetables, eggplant and some rolled up nuts in a leaf.

This is a bowl of sticky rice.

This is some cured pork which you dip in the sauce.

This is a bowl of Laos soup, it is scrumptious.

This is some banana with Tamerind and coconut. It is a dessert.

On the way back we saw the night market

The night market was busy and it was cool in the night.
